A Sign

My wife, Trace, and I were driving to Urgent Care to seek help for a worsening health condition she was experiencing. On the way, we began declaring healing and asking God for wisdom, discernment, favor, and guidance. As we approached the health center, we began recounting how faithful God has been in the past—how He had healed me from what doctors called “incurable cancer,” delivered me from a painful shoulder condition, and again from life-threatening Long COVID.

As we pulled into the parking lot, we prayed for a strengthening of our faith. We asked for reminders of God’s goodness and a sign of His power. I parked in the only open space and glanced at the front of the SUV next to us that had backed in. That’s when I saw the license plate frame. It read:

“FAITH CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS – MATTHEW 17:20”

That very phrase and Scripture is displayed at the front of our meetings every week on our Wednesday Warriors backdrop:

Seeing the same declaration on the vehicle next to us was a timely and undeniable reminder:

God is with us. He is faithful. And faith in Him is powerful.

We often need to be reminded of God’s truth and His faithfulness. That’s why Jesus said,

Do this in remembrance of Me.Luke 22:19

At the Last Supper—the Passover meal—Jesus re-minded His disciples that the Seder wasn’t just a ritual. It was a prophetic revelation of Himself as the long-awaited Messiah.

Through faith in Jesus, we don’t just believe; we receive and apply all He is and all He has done for us. During Holy Week, God invites us to exercise that mountain-moving faith as we remember:

 Jesus is Our Passover Lamb

  • The Passover lambs were raised in Bethlehem.

  • Jesus was crucified on Nisan 14, at the very hour the lambs were being sacrificed in the Temple.

  • His death wasn’t coincidental. It was the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan, perfectly timed.

In Exodus, the blood of the lamb was sprinkled on the doorposts so that death would pass over. Now, the blood of Jesus, applied to the doorposts of our hearts, saves us from sin and eternal death.

“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” John 1:29

“Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” 1 Corinthians 5:7

Jesus is the Messiah

Jesus fulfilled over 300 specific Old Testament prophecies, including 55–60 direct Messianic prophecies.

The statistical probability of one person fulfilling just 8 is 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000 (10¹⁷).

Fulfilling all—as Jesus did—is humanly impossible. Only God could orchestrate such perfection.

The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.— John 4:25-26

 Jesus is Our Redeemer

During the Passover meal, Jesus took the third cup—the Cup of Redemption—and said:

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”

Luke 22:20

Through His sacrifice:

“He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Colossians 1:13–14

Jesus is Our Healer

Jesus’ body was broken so that ours might be made whole. He didn’t just carry sin—He carried our pain, our grief, and our diseases. Healing is not only possible, it is purchased.

“He was pierced for our transgressions,

He was crushed for our iniquities;

… and by His wounds we are healed.”

Isaiah 53:4–5 (NIV)

“He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross,

so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;

by His wounds you have been healed.”

1 Peter 2:24 (NIV)

When Jesus said, “This is My body, broken for you,” He meant it fully—for our forgiveness, our wholeness, and our healing.

Jesus is Our Hope

A pastor friend of mine said he is pointing out in his Resurection Sunrise sermon that Jesus death and resurrection turns:

  • Darkness to Light “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12

  • Despair to Hope “In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”  1 Peter 1:3

  • Death to Life “When you were dead in your sins… God made you alive with Christ.”  Colossians 2:13

  • Bondage to Freedom “He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners… to set the oppressed free.”  Luke 4:18

When Trace and I pulled up to Urgent Care, her condition and our emotions were not fueling our faith. But God, in His kindness, sent a sign and brought to remembrance “Faith that moves mountains.”

When the world was in great darkness, God sent us an even greater light: Jesus—our Redeemer, our Lamb, our Healer, and our Hope.

During this Holy Week, let’s remember what Jesus has done for our redemption, restoration, healing, and wholeness. And let our faith rise—because our God still moves mountains.
