It seems that the time has come to blow the dust off of an old piece from 2018. Sadly, it applies even more today. It led to Facebook taking all of my articles down and tossing me off for two weeks.
Will Voting Democrat Send You to Hell?
It is like I woke up in a different city. Where did my town go? What has happened to my neighbors? No, they were not raptured and I left behind. They are all still here. Thank God!
But, they are not who I thought they were. I woke up to an election map that floored me. I live in what was once a mostly Republican district. For over the past two elections it has become blue – and, apparently getting bluer.
I attribute this shift to two factors: changing demographics, including the influx of young married couples fresh out of college, brainwashed with liberal ideals. The other, more to my point, are older folks and long time residents who are not what they appear to be.
I live in a town with a half-dozen large spiritually-dead mainline-denominational churches. These are Old Tradition churches. They hold a form of religion, but generally preach a feel-good social gospel. They “deny the power”.
Thankfully, my town is a good old southern church-attending town. Yet, many of my neighbors attend one of these lifeless sanctuaries. While many include Godly members, these houses of worship are largely host to the walking dead. Not the television program version, but the spiritually walking dead. It would seem that many of their preachers are essentially the “whitewashed sepulchers” Jesus denounced in His day.
Furthermore, referring to discerning real Christians, Jesus said: “Ye shall know them by their fruits”. The fruit of these folks is sort of rotten – at least at election time. They vote Democrat. Gasp! Clearly, their mind has not been renewed in God’s word. I would contend that they have “conformed to this world”.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
I suspect that their church attendance is more for a show; for a pretense. It does not carry over into their life choices and actions. This is not unexpected, as polling shows that less than three percent of self-proclaimed American Christians hold a Christian worldview.
For the three percent and the ninety-seven percent alike, their worldview is reflected in their voting. I have said many times to claim that to be a ‘Christian Democrat’ is, these days, an oxymoron. I know, it is a strong statement, but sadly true.
Before I go any further, let me be clear – I am a Christian, Conservative and a Republican; in that order. I am convinced that my Conservative views stem from a Christian worldview. I am a Republican, due in large part to the absence of a viable alternative.
Without a doubt, the GOP has let down Christians, and even Conservatives, many times over the years. More often than not, they seem spineless, if not inept, to do the right thing. But, the party, with all its faults, is the best, I believe, we have. Now back to my story.
Once upon a time, you could be a Christian Democrat, but not anymore. The Democratic Party has become extremely anti-Christian, if not downright hostile to the Christian faith. Their platform endorses all forms of perversion from homosexuality and same-sex marriage to transgenderism and abortion, and more.
God hates these sins. To support and endorse their platform, by voting, is an attempt to stand against everything God is for and for everything God is against, while claiming to be a Christian. As a Christian you cannot do both; thus, you cannot be both Democrat and Christian. Something has to give. To be honest, some of my older neighbors have likely not noticed the dramatic shift in the DNC’s policies – they’re are simply old.

Nevertheless, by casting liberal ballots, they are implicitly endorsing the Left’s violent, foul, unloving, slanderous, malicious lying, destructive, deceptive behavior and temper tantrums used to force their agenda through the threat of intimidation. Our Founding Father’s would not be amused. Neither is God, for these are not His methods.
Once upon a time, you could be a Christian Democrat, but not anymore. It is now an oxymoron. Democrats used to be a little left of center, whereas Republicans were a little to the right. It was a healthy tension.

Times have radically changed. The Democrat Party has gone to the most extreme Left. Many lifelong Democrats are still coming to grips with this. Now the ideological divide between the Right and the Left is insurmountable.
You cannot stand in the middle of a war without being shot by both sides – pick a side; pick the Right side. Sadly, half of Christians in this Nation are not even registered to vote; half of those who are don’t bother.
I am convinced that it is a sin not to exercise this God-given right, purchased with the blood of our forefathers. That is a heartrending story for another day. Not voting is pathetic, but to squander a vote for the agenda of the Left is reprehensible. We have a God-given privilege that must be taken seriously.

The underpinnings of this great Nation are seriously under attack. George Washington feared that one day “our Nation would be at war with its own foundations”. That day is upon us. We are witnessing all-out war for control of our government. Yet, Christians are supporting the Leftist’s agenda in the voting booth.
Either these confused church-attending voters are not truly Democrat, or they are not truly Christian. Yes, I know they could in fact be saved; only God knows for sure. They could be merely ignorant Christians. Undeniably, there are plenty of ignorant Christians in this Nation.
However, their election choices would portend, at best, a “lukewarm” walk with Christ. That is not good. Frighteningly, God says that He “will spue thee out of my mouth”. Sobering words, to be sure.
Revelation 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Nevertheless, sadly, I would contend that the latter is more likely true – that they are not truly saved. A renewed mind would recognize this truth. A mind made right in God’s word and through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit would see the hypocrisy of their choices. Jesus said we are either with Him or against Him.
Matthew 12:30a He that is not with me is against me...
Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
No doubt, many of these are the “tares” (“children of the wicked one”). They look like the “wheat” (“children of the kingdom”). “While men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat”, Jesus said in his well-known parable. They are the proverbial “wolves in sheep’s clothing” warned of by Jesus.
These lookalike Christians are in all of our churches, both the sound Bible-based and the errant social-gospel churches alike. We cannot completely extract them, to do so would “root up also the wheat with them”. However, one day, when Christ returns, “in the time of harvest” He will instruct his Angels to: “gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them”.
Okay, am I saying Democrats are the “tares” and will “burn” in Hell? Well, actually yes – maybe. It depends. Harsh, I know, but stay with me a moment. Let me be clear, registering Democrat or voting Democrat will not keep you from Heaven, any more that registering Republican will get you in.
It’s a heart thing. Jesus said that He is “the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”. Not church attendance, keeping the law, registering Republican or any other action will grant you access to Heaven. But, God’s gift is “eternal life” to all, and only those, who will accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
The question remains, will voting Democrat send you to hell? The obvious answer is, of course not! However, it does expose a potentially significant spiritual problem. At the very least, there is a serious disconnect somewhere in these folks thinking. These folks should both check their salvation and, if earnest, then check their thinking – renew their minds in God’s word.
So, what am I saying? To be clear, I am saying that there are a lot of people masquerading as Christians whose hearts are far from Jesus. They act the part, but do not allow Holy Spirit to shape their thinking and their actions.
Some could be truly saved; others are the spiritually lost merely playing the part of Christian. (See: Missing Circle) The saved, would be carnal Christians, who while they accept Jesus as the Son of God who died for their sins, have not allowed him onto the throne of their lives. They hold Him at arm’s length.
These folks are into Old Church Tradition, but have not truthfully made Jesus Lord of their lives. Their churches are more akin to a social club; a place to see and be seen. It is very similar to the rabbinic tradition Jesus sternly addressed in His day. They held to a strict form of religion, but showed no evidence of a heart for God. Spiritual fruit, or the absence thereof, cannot be hidden. In time, all things will be revealed.
Matthew 10:26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
In the meantime, the election maps reveal the spiritual truth about where many of my neighbor’s hearts lie. While they are ultimately responsible for their choices, it is not entirely their fault. They are a product of their pastor’s teaching. Many have attended church all their lives and have never heard the gospel. Lifeless hearts emanate from lifeless pulpits. Spiritually dead pastors guide dead followers.
“If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.” - Charles Finney
Dead parishioners play church; they are holding to a “form of godliness, but denying the power”. The church becomes a social hall. No doubt these folks have heard the Truth, even in their nearly lifeless churches, yet reject it. “They are without excuse”, Paul emphatically states.
2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
These are indeed the walking dead. We are to follow Jesus and “let the dead bury the dead” – meaning, let the spiritually dead bury the physically dead. In other words, nothing in this world is more important than following Jesus.
Matthew 8:22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
Even, and especially, in voting we must follow Jesus. Only the truly regenerate and those renewed in God’s word will think and act like Christ. Only the truly Elect will elect men of whom God would approve; only the regenerate will vote as God would have them vote. Aside from reaping what we sow with our election choices, there will be a personal day of reckoning – where all is “revealed”.

If only we drank Samuel Adams less and listened to him more. Herein, Old Tradition is not only robbing the church of power, but our Nation as well. For, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12a). But, there is something more. It is a heart thing. Solomon discerned the crux of the matter:
Proverbs 28:4They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.
Voting for the wicked is to “praise the wicked”. It is unquestionably a tacit endorsement of what they stand for. Sadly, for far too many self-proclaimed Christians, this is an Old Tradition.
They forsake God’s law, as they vote for the wicked who have waged war against God and the Christian faith in America. How shall they “give account thereof in the day of judgment”? Remember, Jesus said: “He that is not with me is against me”, for truly:

Feel free to disagree with me. Some may hate me; for, Truth is the new Hate Speech. Regardless of your reaction to this piece, just be sure of your own salvation. For nothing, certainly not ideological differences, matter more than your eternal destiny.
In a warning to each of us, Paul implores us to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”. I suspect when we do, once it is truly settled, the issue of how to vote will become crystal-clear.
